Police set up makeshift tents for questioning suspects as press arrived on the scene late on Saturday. Suspects arrested are believed to be of North African descent.

Police received up to 516 complaints following New Year's Eve celebrations in Cologne and other German cities, most of them concerning sexual assaults on women. Cologne police have said that some of the culprits are believed to be men of “Arab or North African origin” responsible for the attacks.
