Moldova: Thousands join rally against PM-hopeful Plahotniuc in Chisinau
Hundreds of anti-Democratic Party protesters rallied outside parliament in Chisinau on Thursday. Several large scale protests were held against Democratic Party leader Vladimir Plahotniuc for the post of prime minister on the same day in Moldovan capital.
Protesters waved Moldovan and EU flags expressing their dissatisfaction with Plahotniuc's candidacy. The rally comes a day after President Nicolae Timofti refused to endorse Plahotniuc as a Prime Minister candidate.
Moldova's previous government, led by Liberal Democrat leader Valeriu Strelet, stepped down on October 29. If a new government is not approved by January 29, parliament will be dissolved and an early election will be called.
