Belarus: OSCE chairperson announces 50 people to be released in prisoner swap
Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson Martin Saydik announced in Minsk, Wednesday, that "more than 50 people" will be released as soon as possible from both the Ukrainian and the Donetsk and Lugansk sides as part of a prisoner swap agreement.
Speaking at a press conference after the meeting of the trilateral contact group in the Belarusian capital, Saydik added that "it will not be 25/25," as a presumption on his side.
He went on to say that "the number will be smaller from the side of ORDO and ORLO [parts of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions]," but rather "a larger number from the Ukrainian side."
Saydik also praised the Russian politician Boris Gryzlov's proposition "to make one more effort to ensure ceasefire in Eastern Ukraine and to estimate the compliance with this agreement at the contact group's next session."
The next trilateral contact group session is scheduled for January 20.
