
India: Syrian FM Muallem arrives in India for bilateral talks
Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs Walid Muallem met with the Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Monday, during his four-day visit to discuss bilateral relations as well as the situation in Syria.
Muallem is the highest-ranking Syrian official to visit the country since civil unrest began in the Middle Eastern country in 2011. The foreign minister will also meet prime minister Narendra Modi, and Ajit Doval, India’s national security adviser during his visit.
The talks are taking place as Swaraj and Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepare for visits to the Middle East later in the week.
