Iran: German ex-Chancellor Schroder talks trade with Iran's Shamkhani
Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder met with the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, in Tehran, Monday, to discuss trade and investment.
Schroder was in Tehran as the head of a 27-person delegation made up of businessmen and representatives of German companies looking to increase trade with Iran and invest in the Iranian economy after sanctions placed on the Middle Eastern country were removed in accordance with the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015.
The JCPOA, also known as the Iran nuclear deal, is an agreement signed in Vienna on July 14, 2015, between Iran and the United States, UK, Russia, China and Germany. The deal imposes limits on Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for the removal of sanctions against Iran.
