
Japan: Six bottlenose dolphins captured during controversial Taiji hunt
Six bottlenose dolphins were captured by Japanese fishermen off the coast of Taiji, Wakayama, on Thursday as part of the annual dolphin drive hunt in the area.
Once captured the dolphins are either killed for their meat or sold on to marine parks and aquariums across the globe.
The Taiji dolphin drive hunt takes place each year from September until March. The hunt has sparked widespread criticism from international animal rights groups.
