Switzerland: Platini's lawyer attends FIFA ethics grilling over corruption charges
Thibaut d'Ales, the lawyer of suspended UEFA President Michel Platini, arrived at the FIFA headquarters in Zurich to defend the former French football international at an ethics hearing into his $2 million (€1.85 million) payment for work as Sepp Blatter's adviser, Friday morning. Platini, who potentially faces a ban of several years for a conflict of interest, refused to attend the hearing.
Platini, who is also FIFA's vice president, was suspended from all football by FIFA on October 8, along with president Sepp Blatter and Secretary-General Jerome Valcke, whilst football's world governing body's ethics committee investigates the trio over allegations of corruption.
