USA: Schools closed across LA following bomb threats
The Hollywood High School lay empty, Tuesday, after the Los Angeles Unified School District closed schools across the district because of bomb threats that were sent to police via email. As many as 640,000 students were affected by the threats.
Discussing the situation, one student said: "This was probably the second time I heard about a bomb threat in LA. But not around schools or around trains or anything. Because they were talking about somebody who's trying to bomb the train or school buses. That's why they cancelled them."
Most students were coming by bus when the announcement was made so they were sent back to their home before arriving. A US congressman has since said that the threats appear to have been a hoax.
