Germany: 'DISLIKE!' Facebook's Hamburg HQ hit by vandals
Facebook's German headquarters in Hamburg's Neustadt neighbourhood was vandalised by a group people, who wrote the slogan "Facebook Dislike" on the facade, threw paint bombs and broke the windows and doors, Sunday.
According to police sources, there is an investigation currently going on in an attempt to identify those responsible for the attack on the US-multinational offices. They are believed to be a group around 15 or 20 people, who were covering their faces with masks and were dressed in black clothes.
Police officials said that the cause of the attack was not clear yet, although some reports talk about protesting against Facebook's overpowering presence online. Since its creation, the social network has faced some controversy, including a scandal after the 2013 mass surveillance disclosures, which identified Facebook as a participant in the US National Security Administration's PRISM program, a clandestine surveillance program launched by US.
