High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini, Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk held a joint press conference following the 2nd Meeting of the EU-Ukraine Association Council in Brussels, Monday. Bilateral cooperation, political, economic and security issues as well as implementation of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement were on the agenda.

Mogherini stressed that the "strong political commitment" of the Ukrainian authorities to reforms is "impressive" and the "EU stands by Ukraine to support it in its efforts" in the implementation process. "We agreed on the needs to a swift implementation and enforcement of new policies and of new legislative frameworks and further acceleration of political and economic reforms," Mogherini stated, adding that both EU and Ukraine are willing to "continue on the path of reforms" in all key areas.

While addressing the press, Yatsenyuk called the EU member states to "ban" the Nord Stream 2 project, saying that "it is neither in Ukrainian nor European interests." Moreover, he stressed that Nord Stream 2 should go under "harsh inspection."
