
Serbia: Lavrov and Vucic tout close ties between Serbia and Russia
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov gave a press conference on the sidelines of the OSCE summit in Belgrade, Friday, in which they both highlighted the historic bonds between the two countries.
Vucic thanked Russia for the support it continues to give Serbia, saying "we know how to respect this kind of support, in any area needed." He added that Serbia had "never stabbed a knife" in Russia's back, stresssing: "that's something that people in Russia know how to respect."
For his part, Lavrov stated that the ties between both countries "are based on spiritual closeness and mutual solidarity." He went on to say that Russia "support[s] Serbia's position and the personal stance of Primer Minister Vucic concerning the establishment of normal life, stability and reciprocal cooperation in the Balkans."
