
USA: Massive Star Wars collection of sci-fi rarities to go on sale at Sotheby’s
One of the World's largest brokers, Sotheby's, announced plans of putting up a rare and original Star Wars-themed collection for auction on December 11th, making the statement from their headquarters in New York on Wednesday.
The collection belongs to the Japanese designer NIGO and includes a variety of collectibles inspired by the George Lukas franchise, such as coins, dolls, action figures and masks. Sotheby's officials estimate that the most expensive items are the "Power of the Force" coin sets produced in 1985, which is expected to collect between $25,000 (€23,572) and $35,000 (€33,000).
The sale is timed well, as Star Wars enthusiasts from all over the world anxiously anticipate the latest instalment of the sci-fi franchise, 'Episode VII - The Force Awakens' which is due to premiere on December 14 in the US.
