Belgium: Mogherini and Stoltenberg tout EU-NATO cooperation in Brussels
Secretary-General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs Federica Mogherini touted the strengthening of coordination between the two organisations during a joint presser in Brussels, Tuesday.
Stoltenberg claimed that upon being elected to office "we have been very focused on how we can develop and strengthen the cooperation between the European Union and NATO and this has really been our top priority when it comes to how we are working together."
Mogherini said that given the vast range of crisis talks involved at their meetings, "it was very clear from all around the table that this cooperation is welcomed, is requested, is encouraged, and I think that it is our point of strength. Mogherini's declarations concluded with her saying that the differences between the organisations should be seen as complimentary because "we face common threats, we face common challenges."
Stoltenberg and Mogherini used the occasion to meet and have a talk on a variety of topics and issues during the summit of top diplomats from 28 NATO member states in Brussels, Tuesday and Wednesday.
