
Italy: 800 shotguns headed to Belgium from Turkey seized by police
Footage released on Thursday shows police in the northern Italian city of Trieste seizing a shipment of nearly 800 shotguns en route from Turkey to Belgium.
According to the police, the Turkish driver did not have a license for transporting the 781 Winchester SXP shotguns. The guns are hunting rifles and therefore import regulations were not violated, however the goods were not declared properly, breaking laws aimed at preventing arms trafficking. The recipient was listed as a company in Belgium.
The Belgian capital had been under the highest-level threat until Thursday, after a wave of coordinated attacks struck the French capital on November the 13. House raids have been carried out in the Brussels region following the continued search for Salah Abdelsalam, one of the key suspects in the Paris attacks believed to be connected to numerous cells in the Belgian capital.
