      UK: Early bird shoppers hunt for bargains Black Friday kicks off

      Sleepy-eyed shoppers got up early to queue in the rain outside the Wembley branch of Tesco Extra in London to get their hands on cut price deals on 'Black Friday'. The US-imported promotion, where various shops drastically cut their prices for one Friday just before Christmas, is gaining traction in the UK, despite the lack of the Thanksgiving holiday season.

      Tesco has announced that 250 Extra stores will be participating in Black Friday, starting sales at 5am GMT. Due to violent incidents that occurred last year across Tesco branches, only 10 customers were allowed in at a time.

      The 'Black Friday' promotion has brought criticism in the US where Unions vowed to strike due to working conditions on America's busiest shopping day of the year.
