Russia: DefMin release scheme of Syrian, Turkish airspace at time Su-24 was downed
The Russian Ministry of Defence released footage of schemes of Syrian and Turkish airspace showing aircraft activities at the time the Russian Sukhoi Su-24 jet was downed near Latakia by a Turkish F-16 jet. The footage shown was filmed at the Ministry of Defence's briefing at which Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff Sergei Rudskoi spoke.
According to Rudskoi the Su-24 jet had not violated Turkish airspace. He cited a Syrian air defence system and "exact information of objective control" when making the statement.
He went on to announce that security will be increased in and around the Hmeymin airbase, with the Moskva crusier equipped with S-300F missiles being deployed in the coastal area of Latakia.
