Turkey: Putin ready for renewal of collaboration with West on several issues
Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke of the importance of renewing collaboration with the West on a number of issues, particularly the issues surrounding terrorism and the rise of the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL), Monday, at the G20 Summit in Antalya. Putin's sentiments were echoed by CIA Director John Brennan who called for an "enhancement" of intelligence sharing with Russia in the wake of the Paris attacks.
The Russian leader stated that "We never refused good relations with our partners, neither in the East nor in the West and those unilateral measures which limit our activities in all directions were not our initiative but our partners’. He added that if those partners had decided to change tack “there is a clear interest to resume our common work in many spheres including the economy, politics and security.”
On Syria, Putin reiterated that world leaders should first of all “define who and which groups are considered to be terrorists and who should be determined as the so-called healthy opposition.” He added that it was now time to create the conditions for the political settlement of the Syrian crisis.
