Lebanon: Police forensic experts inspect double bomb site in southern Beirut
Policemen and forensic investigators worked on Friday at the bomb site where double suicide attacks killed at least 43 people and left more than 200 injured, Thursday, in the suburb of Bourj al-Barajneh in southern Beirut.
According to local media, two suicide bombers reportedly carried out the attack blowing up their explosive vests in the busy shopping street of Ain al-Sikkeh, area considered to be predominantly a stronghold of Shia Islamist political party Hezbollah inside Beirut.
Inhabitants of the area fixed damage on Friday after the blasts. One of the local citizens said that people started to leave country in fear of their life. "The situation hit lots of people. Scared people are going to another places: my son to my neighbours or relatives or something like that. They leave the country, the leave straight," he explained.
Shortly before 18.00 local time (16.00 GMT) on Thursday two powerful explosions went off in the Bourj al-Barajneh area. One explosion took place outside a mosque and the other outside a shopping mall. Reports suggest that the twin blasts took place 150 metres (492ft) apart from each other.
