Syria: Russian fighter jets take to skies from Latakia airbase
Russian Sukhoi Su-24, SU-25 and Su-34 aircraft were seen taking off and landing at the Hmeymim Airbase in Latakia, Wednesday, as the Russian Air Force continued its operation against the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and other militant opposition groups in Syria.
Russian Defence Ministry spokesperson Major-General Igor Konashenkov stated earlier on Wednesday that as a result of the offensive Syrian government forces, with the help of Russian airstrikes and local irregular forces, defeated more than 900 militants near the village of Telmam in Aleppo Governorate.
