
Russia: Putin and Patriarch Kirill attend Orthodox Rus exhibition in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin accompanied by the Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Rus attended the opening ceremony of the Orthodox Rus exhibition in Moscow, Wednesday.
Speaking to attendees, Putin praised the event and emphasised the importance of understanding the history of Russia.
"This educational project is a result of massive joint work between Russia's Orthodox Church and leading scientific organisations, and also archives and libraries. This is the evidence of growing, intense and profound interest to Russia's history, our religious background and beginnings," Putin stated, adding that "this is our history. We must know it, respect it, without any omissions, remember and honour its lessons, respect and appreciate the experience of the past."
The 2015 Orthodox Rus exhibition is devoted to Russian history between 1914 and 1945.
