
Syria: Syrian Army makes gains south of Aleppo and north of Latakia
The Syrian Arab Army advanced in the southern outskirts of Aleppo and seized back large areas in the Aleppo countryside on Monday. At the same time, other troops of the Syrian Army made gains north of the coastal province of Latakia.
The Syrian Army used tanks and multiple rocket launchers in the battle that lasted into the night and early morning of Monday, in Aleppo. The troops cleared vast regions of the Aleppo province from militants who have been hiding out in caves and hills.
The Syrian Arab Army, supported by extensive Russian airstrikes, has continued to make gains on the ground throughout Syria this and last week, including in Hama and Idlib Provinces. The Russian Air Force began conducting airstrikes against militant positions in Syria on September 30.
