Germany: Father accussed of strangling daughter to death over forbidden affair
The trial Lareeb Khan's parents, a 19-year-old girl was purportedly strangled by her father for having a love affair, continued on Monday at the regional court of Darmstadt. The father, Asadullah Khan, has confessed to the crime.
Asadullah and Lareeb's mother, Shazia, are charged and facing trial for murder, which reportedly took place on January 28, 2015. Shazia reportedly witnessed the event without trying to intervene to stop the death.
The parents, both of Pakistani origin, had forbidden Lareeb from going out or having relationships, reports state. She was in a relationship with a boy, also of Pakistani origin, and had defied her parents by staying out. The incident reportedly occurred after Lareeb was caught trying to steal condoms.
