Syria: Latakia residents laud Putin and Russia for intervention
Residents of Latakia expressed their support for the Russian Air Force and the Navy’s role in fighting "terrorism," Thursday. The Mediterranean coastal city, which hosts Russian naval facilities, has been at the heart of Russia’s intervention, which began on September 30.
One resident said that the intervention from Russian forces is "highly necessary," remarking that "as soon as they landed at the airport, we noticed the improvement, by God, the moment they landed at the airport!"
Over 100 targets have been destroyed since Russian operations in Syria began, the Defence Ministry claim. On Wednesday, Russia used its warships in the Caspian Sea to hit Islamic State positions.
