USA: Afghan hospital airstrike was our mistake, says US General
The US Commander of the international forces in Afghanistan declared that the airstrike on a Doctors Without Borders hospital in northern Afghanistan was a mistake, in a testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee in Washington on Tuesday. General Campbell stressed that the US “would never intentionally target a medical facility.”
Campbell’s testimony differs greatly from the initial account of the attack. On October 3, US military sources announced that the attack may have resulted in damage to the facility.
At least 22 people were killed in the attack as Afghan forces fought to retake Kunduz from the Taliban.
