Germany: Syrian conflict can only be solved with Russia - Merkel
German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited an event dedicated to the 25th anniversary of German Unity and the 25th anniversary of Saxony-Anhalt in Halle, Thursday, where she outlined the strategy for combatting the refugee crisis.
"Only if we can eradicate the reasons of fleeing in the countries of origin to an extent where you don't have to fear war and violence on a day-to-day basis, trust to live in safety there can emerge," Merkel stated adding that a solution can only be reached with Russia.
While trying to counter fleeing reasons, Europe must protect its exterior borders with hotspots in Italy and Greece, Merkel went on adding that 'economic refugees' will be sent back in the future.
