
UN: Putin pledges to cut Russian greenhouse gas emissions by 2030
Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to cut Russian greenhouse gas emissions by up to 75 percent of 1990 levels by 2030 during his address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Monday.
"We are interested in the success of the UN climate change conference to be held in December in Paris. As part of our national contribution we are planning by 2030 to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions to 70-75 percent of 1990 levels," Putin stated.
During his address the Russian president noted that climate change was a problem that affects "the future of the whole of humanity."
