
Tajikistan: Russian 2S3 Akatsiya artillery units carry out live fire drills
Russian artillery units stationed near Dushanbe, Tajikistan, carried out live fire drills on Friday.
The self-propelled 2S3 Akatsiya artillery units were tasked with a training exercise involving the destruction of camouflaged stocks of arms and ammunition. During the exercise troops were deployed in formation to occupy firing positions and withstand an enemy attack.
The artillery units are part of the 201st Motor Rifle Division stationed in Tajikistan at one of the largest Russian military facilities located beyond the country’s borders. Moscow was granted access to the base in accordance with an agreement dating back to October 2012 and will remain there until at least 2042.
