Germany: Europe can't resolve Syrian conflict without US, says Merkel
The US should help Europe in solving the Syrian conflict and handling the refugees, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said as she spoke at a gathering of her Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party in Berlin, Monday.
"But believing that Europe can do this alone, without the help of the United States of America, doesn't seem to be realistic to me," Merkel said about the ongoing Syrian conflict. She went on to say that the best help for Syrians "should be acute emergency relief."
The German chancellor announced that the coming meeting of European leaders of the refugee crisis will be about a fair dispersion of refugees, a better protection of the external borders of Europe, direct help on the spot in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan and finally "fighting the causes of flight."
