
Greece: Tsipras celebrates victory with Athens' Syriza supporters
Syriza leader Alexis Tsipras celebrated with his supporters in Athens on Sunday, after his party secured 35% of the vote compared to New Democracy's 27%. Departing from his vehicle after his victory speech, Tsipras hugged supporters, who waved Syriza flags and cheered.
Independent Greeks' leader Panagiotis Kammenos, who has agreed to join a coalition with Syriza after Tsipras' party failed to secure an outright majority, also joined in on the celebrations. The forming of a new government is expected to begin on Monday. Syriza are expected to take 144 seats in parliament, with New Democracy forecast to get around 75 seats.
