
Germany: Knights, jesters & more march through Munich for Oktoberfest
Thousands of people in more than different 60 groups marched through Munich's city centre to the Oktoberfest venue, Sunday, to representing their respective clubs in festive costumes and to celebrate Bavarian culture up to today.
The traditional parade which takes place every first Sunday of Oktoberfest, included music corps, gun clubs and organisations reviving traditional Bavarian culture, medieval professions and performances and provided thousands of sightseers waiting on the side of the road entertainment.
The participants, who were dressed up as medieval knights, jesters as well as in traditional Bavarian uniforms, marched in front of the stage set up at Odeonsplatz for special guests including Bavarian Prime Minister Horst Seehofer who also appeared to enjoy the parade.
This is the 182nd Oktoberfest celebration and more than six million visitors are expected in Munich over the course of the events.
