France: Sanctions on Russia are counter-effective - Russian Deputy FM in Paris
The sanctions imposed on Russia have had the "reverse" effect of what the West intended and have "rallied the patriotic feeling of Russian people," Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexey Meshkov said in Paris on Thursday, during the "Yes! Week of Russia" event.
Speaking at the event, the Russian diplomat said that the sanctions on Russia are meant "only to weaken Russia" and talked about those "who support continuation of the sanctions," saying they "are not interested in the situation in Ukraine" and its destiny. Meshkov spoke on the peace talks, saying that "unfortunately Kiev and its transatlantic curators continue to put a spoke in the wheels of the Minsk process."
"Yes! Week of Russia" is organized by French-Russian Dialogue association in cooperation with local authorities, and opened on Thursday in the 16th district of Paris.
