Austria: Tensions high as refugee scuffles erupt at blocked border
Tensions were high as thousands of refugees waited at the Austrian-German border near Salzburg, Wednesday, waiting to gain entry to Germany, after arriving at the Austria's border city train station earlier in the day. Scuffles broke out after the migrants were told that they must spend the night at the crossing.
The numbers began to pile up due to cancellations on trains from Salzburg to Germany, with Austrian police redirecting the migrants from the train station to the frontier with Germany.
Several buses were organised by Austrian authorities to assist the refugees from the station to the border. German authorities are still blocking the frontier. Officials have reportedly pledged to take them back to Germany's Freilassing train station where they will be sent to various German cities on Thursday.
