
Spain: Police rescue kidnap victim, arrest 10 French nationals
Spanish police arrested ten French citizens and freed a Spanish man who had been kidnapped for six days in the town of Benahavis near the southern resort of Marbella, Tuesday.
Footage published by the Spanish Interior ministry shows police officers putting handcuffs on the kidnappers at the living room of the villa, where the 27-year-old victim was being held. Officers also found €35,000 ($39,531) in cash, 7kg (15lb) of marijuana and 250 counterfeit 50 euro notes in the house.
The Spanish man was kidnapped in the town of Mijas on August 18 and the captors were threatening to kill him unless they received money in exchange for his release. The victim is believed to have suffered psychological damage and bruises to his face.
