A Service was held in one of New Orleans oldest historic African-American churches, the St. Augustine Catholic Church, Friday, to mark ten years since the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The Church held a commemorative concert featuring a local brass band and the church choir.
New Orleans has witnessed numerous events in honour of the victims of Hurricane Katrina including visits from US President Barack Obama, who hailed the spirit and resilience of the city's people.
A total of 1,833 people lost their lives and hundreds of thousands were forced out of their homes during Hurricane Katrina, one of the deadliest hurricanes in US history.
