Iran: British embassy reopens in Tehran after 4-yr closure
The British embassy in Iran re-opened in Tehran on Sunday almost four years after it was closed. UK Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond attended the re-opening ceremony in the Iranian capital alongside Iranian diplomats.
The embassy had been closed since 2011 when protesters stormed the building to oppose sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
The re-opening of the British embassy in Iran comes soon after the Iranian embassy in London re-opened for business. The warming of relations followed the recently-reached Iran nuclear deal that envisages a lifting of sanctions against Iran.
