Lebanon: Iran's Zarif encourages reconstruction of resistant Lebanon
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Beirut for a two-day visit, Tuesday, where he met with Lebanese officials, amongst them the Lebanese Prime Minister Tammam Salam and a representative of the Secretary-General of Hezbollah Hassan Nasrallah, where he discussed the Iranian nuclear deal.
In a press conference following the talks, Zarif spoke about the strong Iranian-Lebanese relations, saying that there need not be any "conflict and friction" in Lebanon, "if there is a dire need for competition, then it must be for the reconstruction of Lebanon. Everybody recognises that this country represents a model of coexistence and resistance, and Iran plays its role in various areas regarding the two, alongside the Lebanese people supporting their needs."
Zarif is scheduled to visit Moscow next week. The exact date yet to be announced.
