Hotel Relation in Osaka where rooms are rented out to the dead so family members can spend time and sleep in the same room as their deceased loved-ones was captured on film on Saturday. The hotel, which has been open for four years, has 16 rooms in total. The rooms include a television, DVD player, bathrooms, and other modern conveniences similar to those found in a regular hotel. There is also a special lift to deliver the bodies directly to their allocated room.

Owner of Hotel Relation Yoshihiro Kurisu said that in the future, as the number of people dying each year increases with life expectancy, clients will prefer "more reasonable and simple" funeral services, and that Hotel Relation was established "to serve such needs."

Prices start at 185000 yen (€1360, $1500) per ceremony.
