Spain: Don't bury them yet! Coffins carry the living in Galicia
Four of the living were carried in coffins from a church to a cemetery during the Santa Marta religious pilgrimage celebrated in As Neves, Galicia, Wednesday.
Those participating in the pilgrimage do it to thank Saint Marta after a personal near-death experience. As part of the tradition, the coffins containing the "offered" are carried by his or her relatives during the procession.
Thousands of people from Spain and Portugal gather to see watch the ceremony each year, which is believed to have started in the XVII century. During the walk, pilgrims sing psalms and carry candles, with some even walking on their knees to show their devotion.
