
Yemen: Explosion hits Ismaili mosque, IS claim responsibility *GRAPHIC*
A car bomb claimed by the Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) exploded, killing at least three people and injuring seven in Yemen's capital of Sanaa, Wednesday.
The attack targetted the Al Faydh Alhatemy mosque in the Nuqum district, which is a place of worship for the Ismaili Shia minority. Vehicles were destroyed and blood stained the floor in the area, with the mosque itself suffering severe damage.
Since March 2015, some 3,200 people have died in Yemen according to UN data. The UN have classified Yemen as in dire need of assistance, categorising it as a level three humanitarian emergency, the highest on their scale. The transnational body estimates that over 80 percent of the population are in need of aid.
