USA: Anti-Shell activists hang from bridge in Arctic drill protest
Activists suspended themselves off a bridge in Portland on Wednesday, protesting against Royal Dutch Shell's drilling operations in the Arctic.
Some protesters hung themselves from the St. Johns Bridge, while others were in boats on the Willamette River attempting to stop a Shell support ship from reaching its destination.
The activists are reported to be targeting the Fennica, as it is carrying essential equipment which the Shell Polar Pioneer rig requires in order to begin drilling.
The US government approved Shell's operations in the Artic in May of this year.
