UK: Squatters stay put in former N. London council estate
Squatters continued to occupy around 150 houses in North London on Friday, despite the determination of the company that owns the buildings, Annington Homes, to demolish and rebuild the estate.
The current residents moved into the empty housing estate three months ago after the original tenants were evicted so their homes could be sold off to developers.
The squatters who currently occupy the homes reportedly do not consider themselves homeless but see their decision to live in the area as more of a lifestyle choice. They have re-named the residential area 'Sweets Way Estate.'
