
Ukraine: Mukachevo violence results in Poroshenko appointing new regional head
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko appointed Gennady Moskal as the new head of the Trans-Carpathian regional administration in Mukachevo on Wednesday.
Poroshenko said the region needs “strong and determined people” after the recent eruption of violence, which is why he chose Moskal. On Saturday the Right Sector is alleged to have launched an attack on a traffic police station and a gym in Mukachevo, with two people killed conflict in the ensuing clashes.
Previous to his appointment Moskal served as the head of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in the Trans-Carpathian region and he was the chairman of the Trans-Carpathian Regional State Administration.
