Russia: Putin discusses restructuring of Crimea governance with Medvedev
Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the need for further restructuring within the Crimean region with Russian Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev in Moscow, Wednesday.
Medvedev reported to the Putin that they should consider the potential abolition of the Ministry of Crimea, saying it had fulfilled its task.
The President went on to question Medvedev about the problems involved in coordinating between the peninsula and Moscow if the ministry were to be removed, specifically the coordination of the federal structure within the Crimean government.
Noting Putin’s point that there were still many questions related to the development of the regions territories and the implementation of the federal target program, Medvedev replied that the issues could potentially be solved by a government commission for Crimea and Sevastopol. The Prime Minister sited similar successful programmes orchestrated in the North Caucasus and Russia’s far east.
