France: 'Grexit' would have been "extremely expensive" - France's Minister of Argriculture
Greece leaving the eurozone would have been "extremely expensive," spokesperson for the French government and current Minister of Agriculture Stephane Le Foll said at the Elysee Palace in Paris, Wednesday.
Debunking the idea that ‘Grexit’ would lead to the “reimbursement" of debt, Le Foll argued that the southern European country would have had to implement a "new, weak currency" and reimbursements in this context would be far from satisfactory.
An agreement between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the eurozone came just over a week after the Greek people rejected the demands of creditors in a national referendum. Greece’s parliament is set to vote on whether or not to accept the conditions on Wednesday.
