Bulgaria: Protesters demand top prosecutor's resignation and judicial reforms
Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in front of Sofia's Palace of Justice, Tuesday, to demand the resignation of Bulgaria's Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov and the implementation of long-anticipated judicial reforms.
Protesters held anti-Tsatsarov and anti-GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party) banners while collectively chanting "resignation".
The protest was organised by the Protest Network, an organisation that emerged during the anti-government protests of 2013 and 2014. The group not only demands judicial reforms, but ask for constitutional changes to rewrite the workings of the judiciary in Bulgaria. They argue that Bulgaria's current judicial system plays into the hands of organised crime and corruption.
