Paraguay: Pope Francis attracts thousands despite poor weather conditions
Pope Francis delivered mass to a crowd of thousands in Nu Guasu on Sunday. The service and the adverse, muddy conditions failed to stop the faithful from gathering, although at least two people were forced to receive medical attention from emergency services.
Sunday’s service marked the last day of the Pope’s Latin American tour after he visited Ecuador and Bolivia. Some 89% of Paraguayans are Catholic so the country witnessed a huge turnout wherever the Pope went, especially as thousands of Argentinians also travelled to the country to see the pontiff.
The Pope is set to head back to the Vatican later on Sunday.
