Austria: Marathon nuclear talks continue in Vienna with end reportedly in sight
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Yukiya Amano arrived at the Palais Coburg hotel in Vienna on Sunday, to participate in what is believed to be final stage of long lasting nuclear talks between the P5+1 group and Iran.
Upon the arrival, Amano held a meeting with Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Iran’s Energy Organisation. He soon left the hotel but is reported to be returning later for more meetings. US Secretary of State John Kerry could also be seen outside the hotel, pacing above its entrance as he spoke on the phone.
A provisional agreement could reportedly be reached on Sunday, with an official announcement set for Monday. The parties originally agreed on a June 30 deadline but were forced to change the date several times due to lack of agreement over certain points, especially in relation to an arms embargo.
