Russia: Tsipras never asked Moscow for assistance, says Putin
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras hasn't contacted Moscow asking for assistance, revealed Russian President Vladimir Putin, while speaking on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Ufa, Friday. Putin went on to comment that "this is understandable" since "we know what is at stake".
Putin also said that the European Commission is partially to blame for the Greek crisis. The Russian president explained that the commission should have intervened earlier instead of "issuing such bonuses and loans" and "keeping a low profile on taxation on certain sectors".
The 15th meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO takes place on July 9 and 10 in Ufa and partially coincides with a meeting of the BRICS leaders.
