Russia: Putin honours Kazakh President Nazarbayev with Order of Alexander Nevsky
President Vladimir Putin honoured Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev with the Order of Alexander Nevsky during a meeting in Ufa on Thursday.
Nazarbayev was awarded the honour because of his great contribution in the development of relations between Russia and Kazakhstan. Nazarbayev became the 107th person to receive the Order, a tradition established in the Soviet Union in 1942.
The Order of Alexander Nevsky is the only Russian award to have existed, with some modification, in the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and the Russian Federation.
