Russia: Russian citizen suspected of recruiting for Ukrainian Right Sector
Alexander Razumov, a Russian man suspected of recruiting for the far-right Ukrainian nationalist group Right Sector, talked about his desire to do "something big" while in detention in Moscow, Monday, as he prepares to stand trial on mercenary charges and charges of "inciting hatred." He added that he wanted to join a cause that made a difference, saying that there was no sense in just "cut(ting)-up Tajiks in a backyard because the number of Tajiks is not diminishing."
Russia's Investigative Committee have detailed several of Razumov’s alleged activities, including travelling to Ukraine where he reportedly received “military and ideological” training from the far-right paramilitary group. According to investigators, on his return to Russia, Razumov attempted to recruit two police officers to join the ranks of the Right Sector, and participate in the armed conflict in Donbass alongside the right-wing grouping.
Instead the officers passed the information to the Investigative Committee and Razumov was detained.
So far Razumov has not denied his involvement with the Right Sector, saying that it was a dream of his to become involved in such groups.
